What We Did

During the 11-month build carried out by Hobson & Porter, we were tasked with carrying out the Hull Women’s Centre’s full electrical design and installation.

Working closely with the client and Hull-born architect Helen Smith, of the LNS Partnership, our specialist knowledge helped create a building with a low environmental impact by minimising energy costs.

This sizeable electrical project included lighting and emergency lights, small power works and data cabling. To increase safety, new security and fire alarms were also installed along with intruder alarms.

We continually communicated with the client and centre management throughout the build process, allowing them to make minor amendments to improve functionality, whilst remaining on budget and time.

Known as The Purple House, the charity has gone on to win several awards since becoming the first purpose-built women's centre in the UK.
