Martin Dixon benefits from £3m solar surge

The surge in demand for renewable energy in homes has seen Martin Dixon Ltd turnover £3m in the first six months of installing solar roof panels.

The expansion of our operations has led to the opening of five new bases across the UK, and the addition of more than 30 new members of staff.

Business development manager Frank Saunders says the success has been due to selecting exactly the right time to move into a market which has now won over the doubters, given the huge financial incentives and rewards involved for families 'going green'

Not only do Solar PV panels help home owners save money on bills, but they also generate tax-free income, and a return on investment of up to 15 per cent for 20 years, under Government funding incentives to increase levels of renewable energy.

"We knew we had to get the timing right to move into the renewables market, and to say it has been a success is an understatement," said Mr Saunders.

"We have seen huge demand for Solar PV panels as people are increasingly seeing the benefit of transforming the way they power their homes.

"Our success reflects a recent shift in people's perception about installing and using green energy systems in their homes. Many people were dubious before, but the financial benefits for going green at home now cannot be argued with."

With the business also supplying solar thermal systems and biomass boilers to provide all heating and hot water in homes, something now supported by the Government's new domestic renewable heat incentive which pays homeowners quarterly payments for seven years when switching to renewable heating systems, Mr Saunders is expecting another lift in enquiries.

"People have been very interested in turning towards green energy for a long time, but have needed these incentives across the board to make the change," he said.

"The domestic renewable heat incentive provides the needed financial help to households wishing to make the switch to renewable heating.

"It will not only allow people to have warmer homes and cheaper fuel bills, but also receive cash payments for embracing these new technologies. It is a win-win.

"For us, we expect this to be a big part of our work going forward in the residential side of our business.

"It has been a great six months for us. The rest of our business, in which we have always been leaders in supplying mechanical, electrical and gas services to major companies and contractors, remains extremely strong, but we are delighted we recognised the shift towards the renewables market and it has been an excellent addition to our services." added Mr Saunders.

Client Testimonials

Laurence Garton, Yorkare Homes

Martin Dixon projects we are involved in we find that the quality of there workmanship is excellent and we rarely find any snagging items. Their employees (on site) are very approachable to discuss the works they are undertaking and have great knowledge of the project in hand and services they are installation.

Allan Whitehead, site manager, South Cave CE Primary School

Martin Dixon Ltd were brilliant. They stood out ahead of all other firms we looked at across the country as they could offer us the complete package. It was great to use an established local company with the expertise to deliver this for us, and throughout their time on site they were superb. Financially, the savings and extra income will allow us to run the school for a year at no cost to us.

Janet Huscroft, Headteacher, Hook CE Primary School

I was introduced to the work of Martin Dixon at an awareness raising meeting organised by the local NAHT Association. They installed LED lighting throughout the school. The work was promptly carried out during the summer break of 2015, we are delighted with the results. I would have no hesitation in recommending Martin Dixon as a company to fulfil what they promise.

Alison Risebury, School Business Manager, Swinefleet Primary School

After just having had our LED lights fitted in school this week, I just wanted to get in touch to say thankyou to Martin Dixon for the work you did. All lights are now changed making a massive difference to the lighting within our school and hopefully to our electrical costs! Many thanks for the level of service that you have given us.
