Martin Dixon Ltd a shortlisted finalist in Humber Renewables Awards

Martin Dixon Ltd has today been shortlisted as a finalist in the Humber Renewables and Green Energy Awards – an event which recognises the very best green businesses across the region.

Following on from our success in winning the Green Award at the Hull Daily Mail’s Business Awards last November, the company has now been shortlisted for the Medium or Large Renewables Business of the Year.

The shortlisting reflects Martin Dixon’s success over the past 12 months, in which a big focus has been placed on developing our work in the renewables and green energy sector – launching our own renewables division.

Our nomination, which reflected upon new job creation and increased turnover through renewables, was supported with high praise from industry watchdog, the Home Insulation and Energy Systems Contractors Scheme (HIES).

In today’s Hull Daily Mail, it was revealed that judges had a difficult job whittling entrants down to three finalists in each category, with the strength of nominees reflecting the maturing green industry in the region.

“There have been some fantastic entries this year," said the Mail's deputy editor Jamie Macaskill.

"The awards show the green energy scene is really starting to move. We are looking forward to a great evening with the finalists.”

The team at Martin Dixon has also been delighted to see South Cave CE Primary School shortlisted in two awards categories, for Best Renewable Energy Project and Renewables Education.

Their short-listings relate to the £250,000 project, with Martin Dixon Ltd, to transform it into a ‘Green’ school.

The project saw us install a wood pellet-burning biomass boiler to provide heat, and 60 solar panels on the roof to power super energy-efficient LED lighting across the site.

Over the next two decades, the changes willgenerate well in excess of more than four times the school’s initial investment through savings and income from Government incentives.

Importantly, it has also provided a real-life, on-site facility for pupils at the school to learn about renewable energy day-to-day, as the three systems will reduce the school’s carbon footprint by 170 tonnes of Co2 emissions a year.

“We are delighted to be short-listed again at another prestigious awards event which highlights the companies making a real difference in the region,” said business development manager Frank Saunders.

“Equally we were delighted to see South Cave School recognised for their commitment to using green energy. That was a project that all involved with were extremely proud of, so it is great to see it being held up as an example alongside some renewables projects undertaken by some long-established and big businesses.”

The winners will be announced at a prize-giving ceremony at the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel in Willerby on Thursday, March 5.

Siemens' Green Port Hull project director Finbarr Dowling will be the keynote speaker on the night.

Client Testimonials

Laurence Garton, Yorkare Homes

Martin Dixon projects we are involved in we find that the quality of there workmanship is excellent and we rarely find any snagging items. Their employees (on site) are very approachable to discuss the works they are undertaking and have great knowledge of the project in hand and services they are installation.

Allan Whitehead, site manager, South Cave CE Primary School

Martin Dixon Ltd were brilliant. They stood out ahead of all other firms we looked at across the country as they could offer us the complete package. It was great to use an established local company with the expertise to deliver this for us, and throughout their time on site they were superb. Financially, the savings and extra income will allow us to run the school for a year at no cost to us.

Janet Huscroft, Headteacher, Hook CE Primary School

I was introduced to the work of Martin Dixon at an awareness raising meeting organised by the local NAHT Association. They installed LED lighting throughout the school. The work was promptly carried out during the summer break of 2015, we are delighted with the results. I would have no hesitation in recommending Martin Dixon as a company to fulfil what they promise.

Alison Risebury, School Business Manager, Swinefleet Primary School

After just having had our LED lights fitted in school this week, I just wanted to get in touch to say thankyou to Martin Dixon for the work you did. All lights are now changed making a massive difference to the lighting within our school and hopefully to our electrical costs! Many thanks for the level of service that you have given us.
